MARCH 2019

March, even though short with Spring Break, has been an eventful and impactful few weeks for Global Medical Brigades! The year is almost over and we are so, SO close to our 2 upcoming Panama Brigades!

Our general meetings always include a brief update on club events, deadlines, and brigades. We then spend the next 50 minutes listening to an informative guest speaker ranging from doctors to medical schools to CEO's! This month, we had Princeton Review come and talk about the discounts we get as members as well as tips on how to

best prepare for the MCAT. We also had a presentation from Lesly Riley from the Health Professions office. She talked about medical mission ethics and how to properly present your experience! The Panama Brigaders learned some essential clinical skills such as taking blood pressure, pulse, and other important vitals during their meeting. They will start learning the basics of Spanish so they are well prepared for their upcoming brigade.

March has also been filled with incredible volunteering events in the Austin community. This included the Microfarm, Micah 6 food pantry, the Monos de Christo Share the Love Gala, and a Sand Volleyball Tournament supporting a nutrition program in Haiti!

We have also been partnering with a school in Ghana to provide free school supplies for the children that attend that school with the hopes that we can bring a bag full of school supplies with us to our next brigade in Ghana 2020!

An exciting year lies ahead for GMB; stay with us to watch our organization grow, flourish, and ignite change. HOOK 'EM!
