ABOUT OUR CHAPTER

GLOBAL BRIGADES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS

UT Austin's chapter of Global Medical Brigades was founded in 2010, and is one of the longest running university constituents of Global Brigades. Over the past ten years, UT GMB has led 21 brigades to Nicaragua, Panama, Honduras, and Ghana. For these brigades, our 786 volunteers have cumulatively fundraised over $1,000,000 for sustainable healthcare development in many communities. These past brigaders have now moved from GMB to dedicate themselves in a wide variety of professions including medicine, nursing, physical therapy, other healthcare professions, public health, biomedical sciences, financial consulting, and more. We are very proud of our rich history, and we look forward to developing it even more in the future.

Additionally, our Global Business Brigades chapter was founded in 2010 and has continued to send out passionate business students and volunteers to Panama, Honduras, and Ghana. Many of the business brigades alumni have moved onto professional careers but continue to provide support to Global Brigades and UT Austin's chapter.

Our public health chapter is being established this spring, with anticipation of our first brigade being this summer 2018! We are extremely excited to continue growing the Global Brigades movement and promoting the holistic model on campus.
